Tonight I am going to attempt to help Uleesha study for the GED test. I am going to help her with US History, World History and English.

I will be able to get an idea of whether or not I want to look into becoming a teacher by the end of tonight. It is something that I have given alot of thought to over the years and have finally decided that I might look into it. I will find out tonight if I have what it takes to succeed.

I’ve always wanted to be someone who ends up making a difference. I guess it goes back to when my dad had his accident that left him paralyzed from the waist down. I decided I wanted to be a lawyer after all the troubles we had with getting a settlement from the State of Illinois. It took us eight years in order to receive anything from the state as they fought us tooth and nail every step of way even though my dad got hurt while working for the State police. If you’ve seen the movie Blues Brothers, he worked next door to the prison Joliet Jake was in as a fingerprint technician. Law was going to be my ticket to helping people who were in similar situations. Unfortunately, I found out in college that law school is a scam and entry is based on who you know and not how good you are. The whole OJ trial also soured me on law. Therefore, I had to look for something else to do in order to make an impact.

Bret Hart had a gimmick in the WWF where he wanted to be a role model, someone to look up to and he started a feud against the USA in order to be a good role model and stay a hero. I liked that so much that I did the Superheroes thing in IWA. I don’t think that changed anyone’s life though since they still pop for the Corporal Robinson, Ian Rotten “pill popping dope smoking blah blah blah” promos.

That leads to the new adventure of possibly becoming a teacher. I have two younger cousins whom look up to me as role models but I want to make a larger impact than that. Hopefully I can help shape people’s minds and make a crappy system better. Not enough emphasis is put on history, geography etc in schools these days. Kids go into high school without the ability to identify states on a map or know who the first president of the United States was. I had a few teachers in my years in school that actually stand out for the good job that they did in making me realize that “fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.” None of them were Dean Woermer however. I can live with being fat but thankfully I avoided the drunk and stupid part. Maybe I can have that affect on others and do my small part to make this country a better place to be.
