Bollig Puts Pardy Through The Glass

I know a lot of hockey fans.  I even know a few people that gave a damn about hockey BEFORE the Blackhawks won the first of their Stanley Cups a couple of years ago.  I don’t know what year that was off the top of my head and I don’t care enough to look it up.  I’ll say 2010 but I wouldn’t want to bet any money on my being right.  I have never watched a hockey game in my life and have probably only seen maybe 5 minutes of hockey total in my life because of where I was and not having control over what was on the television.  I’m too old to start now and I don’t care enough to try.  I’m happy for my friends that get to enjoy a good team (I guess they are good since they have won the Stanley Cup twice now).  I have respect for the players because it is a rough sport to play plus you have to be able to ice skate before you can even start to play the game.  I have many reasons that I don’t like hockey.  The first reason is that I DESPISE winter.  I hate being outside in the cold.  I’m fortunate enough to not be homeless.  I have a roof over my head so I can stay warm and not freeze to death in the winter so why in the hell would I want to forego that luxury and go outside in the snow if I don’t have to?  The main reason though is because the greedy old man that owned the team when I was growing up never had the games on television because he thought it would hurt ticket sales if people could watch at home for free.  Instead, it created a lot of people like me that didn’t give a damn about hockey since we couldn’t see it on a regular basis.  Luckily for the Blackhawks, they won over a lot of those people when they won the Stanley Cup and got those people interested.  It will never happen for me.  That boat set sail for me a long time ago.  All that being said, I can appreciate a good highlight from a hockey game when I’m not getting bombarded with a bunch of people that I KNOW never watched a game until three or four years ago talking about what huge life long fans they have been.  Last night happened to be one of those times:

Bollig sends Pardy through the glass

In the Blackhawks game last night, Brandon Bollig put a Winnipeg Jets player through the glass partition that protects the fans.  From what I heard on the radio, a fan then took the helmet off the Jets player .  It’s a cool visual to be sure.

I think the only reason that this catch my attention and made me blog about it was because it reminded me of one of my favorite moments in wrestling history.  The time that “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels turned on his long time tag team partner Marty Jannetty and after giving him a Superkick, HBK threw Marty Jannetty through the window on the set of The Barber Shop:
