James Young Makes Shot Of Year…

For the other team.

The University of Kentucky Wildcats are the preseason number 1 team in the country according to the polls.  It is not rarified air for one of the most storied programs in college basketball history.  They are used to being ranked number one.  They are used to winning national championships.  They have eight of those so far.  Those eight national titles are second most in history to the UCLA Bruins.  UCLA won almost all of theirs in one dominating run under John Wooden that included players like Lew Alcindor (Kareem Adbul Jabbar) and Bill Walton.  Kentucky was good in the forties.  They would good in the fifties.  They were good in the seventies.  They were good in the early eighties.  They were great in the nineties.  They have been spectacular lately.  They have the most wins in college basketball history.  After a horrendous short tenure under Coach Billy Gillespie, the Wildcats brought in John Calipari as coach.  Coach Calipari has made no bones about his strategy to returning the Big Blue Nation to the top of the college basketball world.  He is going to get the best damn freshman that are available and try to win with them.  They will leave after one year to go on to the NBA and then he will replace them with more just like them.  It had great success the first three seasons (an Elite Eight, a Final Four and a National Championship.)  It did not work at all last year (NIT).  Time will tell for this season.

One of the prized recruits on this year’s team is James Young.  He is joined by the Harrison twins and Marcus Lee.  Kyle Wiltjer and Ryan Harrow (the guy who single handedly ruined last season by being a whiny little bitch and a horrible player.)  As mentioned, the experts think that Kentucky will be one of the teams to beat this season.  One thing is definitely for sure.  James Young did something that NO ONE had even seen before at the University of Kentucky.  He made a basket for the other team by trying to save a ball going out of bounds and just heaving it behind him.  It was the damnedest thing that I have ever seen and it set the internet on fire…during an exhibition game…going head to head with the Bears vs. Packers on Monday Night Football.  Here it is in all its glory:

James Young makes save but throws it in other teams basket.
