How Badly Will The Broncos Beat the Jaguars?

The 5-0 Denver Broncos have a bye week this week in the NFL. They actually have to play but it might as well be a bye week. The schedule Gods will be sending the 0-5 Jacksonville Jaguars to Denver this weekend to play Peyton Manning and the rest of the Broncos. There might be defensive players jumping into the rock/paper/scissors games to determine who is going to get all the TDs that are going to be scored in this game.

Let’s look at some horrifying numbers. In five games, the Broncos haven’t scored LESS than 37 points in a single game. In five games, the Jaguars haven’t scored MORE than 20 in a single one. The Jaguars have lost by 26, 10, 28, 34 and 14. The Broncos have won by 22, 18, 16, 32 and 3. The Broncos are averaging 46 points a game. The Jaguars are averaging 10 points a game. Peyton Manning is completing 75% of his passes. He has 1884 yards for an average of 372 yards per game with 20 TDs and only 1 INT. The Jaguars have ONLY SCORED 5 TOUCHDOWNS THE ENTIRE YEAR. Denver has scored 29 TDs through 5 games…Jacksonville scored 26 TDs ALL SEASON last year and they are by far a worse team this year. Lastly, the Jaguars are allowing 32 points per game (would be much worse but they got to play the Raiders…who only scored 19 points.)

The worst beating in NFL history came in the 1940 NFL Championship Game when the Chicago Bears beat the Washington Redskins 73-0. That is also the most points scored by a team in one game in NFL history. Both of those records are in SERIOUS jeopardy this coming weekend. Las Vegas has opened the betting on this game with Jacksonville as a 28 point underdog. I have NEVER seen that in an NFL game. That is an Alabama vs. Georgia State, cupcake scheduling in college point spread. Even at 28 points, I think 90% of the money is going to go on the Broncos. As a matter of fact, I’m going to place a bet on the Broncos before the spread goes up to like 35 points.

When the final whistle blows on Sunday, I think the 1940 Bears (yes I know they are dead) will be able to crack open champagne and celebrate 1972 Miami Dolphins style because I don’t see it being a 73-0 blowout. I do see Peyton Manning getting 6 or 7 TD passes with 450 yards and then coming out of the game. I see Jacksonville putting up big passing numbers as well since Justin Blackmon is back after a drug suspension. Blackmon had 136 yards and a TD yesterday against the Rams in his return. I think he could have close to 200 yards and 2 TDs against the Broncos.

My prediction on the final score: Denver Broncos 63 – Jacksonville Jaguars 24
