A huge MLB thank you to our troops for all they do to keep us safe. -mlb
#MLB is doing it wrong. There is Veterans Day in November to honor our troops. Memorial Day is for honoring those that died serving our country. There is a difference and wrapping it in camo and selling it as merchandise is NOT the way to honor fallen soldiers. Just my two cents.
Even if they say all the proceeds from today’s camo gear are going to great organizations like USO or Purple Heart etc, everyone knows that someone in MLB is keeping something. Even the NFL has been shown that their work with Susan B Komen nets the NFL millions of dollars that aren’t given to the charitable cause. (http://www.businessinsider.com/why-is-the-nfl-profitting-off-of-breast-cancer-2012-10) Maybe it is just the NFL that skims off the top and makes a fortune in these kind of ventures but I highly doubt it.
There’s enough doubt there that I will just continue to give directly to the Purple Heart and donate my used clothes etc to help out that great organization and by doing it directly, I know that they are getting it.
Go directly to Purple Heart’s website and check out the great things that they do for wounded soldiers and help them out. Know that your money is going directly to the cause. http://www.mophsf.org/ or you can go to the USO website and help them out as well (although Purple Heart is the one more closely aligned with the spirit and meaning of Memorial Day): http://www.uso.org/.
Just stick to buying conventional MLB team gear instead of making corporate suits rich off the sacrifices our brave men and women have made defending our great country.
Getting off my soap box now.
