Today was nothing but a television day. I finished off season 3 of Dallas. The season finale was probably the greatest 60 minutes of television show in history. JR screwed over so many people and had so many great one liners in this episode that it was just fantastic. They had a documentary as a special feature that talked about the phenomenon of the Who Shot JR? storyline. It wasn’t even supposed to happen. They had the season filmed and then CBS ordered more episodes for the season because of how much advertising was coming in due to the popularity of the show. They needed to come up with a new cliffhanger and decided to shoot JR due to all the people he had ruined. Larry Hagman was the ultimate business man during that summer and held out for more money since he was the focal point of the entire story. They filmed about 10 different characters being the gunman in order to keep it under wraps who the actual shooter would end up being.
I skipped watching Friends on TBS tonight because they aired two episodes with today’s theme. I didn’t care to watch that. I instead went out to Wal-Mart to pick up some Chocolate Peanut Butter Chex mix to eat while watching The Shield. That flavor of Chex should be illegal. It is way too damn good. I forsee a few more pounds getting added on to my ample midsection. When I got back from Wal-Mart, I flipped through some channels to pass the hour before The Shield started. Dr. Phil was on CBS. I stopped for a minute. They had a guy on there that had three girlfriends at the same time. Way to horde all the action for yourself you greedy bastard. Some of us have nothing. No prospects. No hope. Then there are bastards on television bragging about having three girlfriends and how many lies he has told to win over women. You are killing the rest of us. Some of us aren’t capable of being that big an asshole. The moral compass in us just won’t allow it.
The Shield had another awesome episode tonight. I am beginning to have a great dislike for Det. Kavanaugh. I can’t wait to see Vic Mackey destroy that son of a bitch. Vic’s ex-wife needs to take a hit now as well for giving up some info on Vic. All she had to do was keep her mouth shut. I’m starting to become inpatient waiting for the two to come to blows. It needs to happen and soon. If I were writing for the show, I would have the Strike Team destroy Kavanaugh’s car. Spray paint it. Smash the windows. I think it would be an awesome tip of the hat to his character from Fast Times At Ridgemont High. But I am goofy like that.
Speaking of writing things, I am ready to start page 5 of the novel. I just write a little here and there to keep from hating it. It isn’t working very well as I am already tired of it. I don’t know how much more I am going to write. I don’t need to relive the stuff with my dad again. In a couple of weeks it will be 10 years since he died. I don’t need to write down the story cause I’m thinking about it enough now as it is. I might take a break from it and come back to it later. I just don’t know yet.
Well my first attempt at bed is calling me. Until next time…
