I wanted to get up at 8 am this morning so I could get into town and get my car worked on before heading to Shabbona to drop off some flyers and going to Joliet to take my computer to Best Buy to get the virus of doom taken off of it.
Since I was up until 4 am, that 8 am wake up call just wasn’t enough to get me out of bed. I didn’t get up until 9 and that hour would come back to haunt me.
First, I didn’t get my car to be worked on because their wasn’t enough time. I then went to the school and got hassled for paperwork that I didn’t have. I came up with an idea of making a contest for the students where the 3 winners could meet Billy Gunn before the show and get pictures taken and autographs from all the wrestlers. The school doesn’t want to sell tickets because of the hassle and not wanting to hand out tickets to the kids and make them responsible for them. The flyers have my number on it so I suggested the kids take the flyers and have their family and friends call me for tickets and say they were sent by “kid’s name” and I would keep track of the “Kid’s name” and the top 3 sellers would win. They have to run it past the superintendent and I haven’t heard back.
Anyway, it was then off to Joliet to go to Best Buy to get the computer fixed. I got onto I-80 and drove for about 5 miles and then black smoke was everywhere. No cars were moving and I was stuck. A big accident ahead in a construction zone no less and one of the cars is on fire. I didn’t move an inch for the next 75 minutes. I’m notorious for road rage so you must be thinking that I was ready to kill someone over this event. Wrong. Why you ask? Let me tell you a story. I owe you a smack to the back of the head Joey Eastman for this but back to the story…Joey Eastman went onto the message board a few months ago and proclaimed that if I was to do the Safety Dance that I would surely win the love of Mickie Knuckles. I substituted the Carlton Dance for the Safety Dance and just like the million times outside of IWA shows, I failed miserably in my attempt. So what would be the first song that would come onto the radio courtesy of 101.9 FM? You guessed it, The Safety Dance. Do I turn the station? Of course not because then I wouldn’t be able to become depressed and angry while thinking about the biggest failure of my life and with all the failures I’ve had, to be the biggest takes some hard work. I don’t remember much else that I care to go into right now about the waiting out of the accident so lets move forward to Best Buy.
I find out that it will cost me $80 and take 2-3 days to remove the virus. Great. The guy goes “let me guess, the im said something about looking at this picture” and I nodded and he said “yep that is one of the fastest moving viruses that I’ve seen…we’ve got quite a few computers in here with that.” So now I’m the depressed loser who is also an idiot for catching a virus on the computer that I obviously should have known about.
I think I’m just going to lay around the house and wait for it to get later and then find somewhere to put out some flyers. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day for getting things done.
I just looked in the TV Guide to find something to watch and I open to the horoscope and read this for Scorpio: “certain past failures must now be consigned to the trash heap of history. That may sound brutal, but the more junk you clear out of your life now, the more space you will have for the good things coming your way”
Blah. I carry each and every failure with me on my back and that is my exercise in life: lugging those burdens around with me. I’ve yet to see too many good things come my way in life so there is plenty of room for when one does decide to come along.
